On Wednesday, 28 May, Swissminiatur officially inaugurated the new TILO FLIRT TSI train, the second major novelty of the 2026 season and a new highlight of the park’s railway network.
After more than a year of work, the miniature train is ready to run along the tracks of Swissminiatur, enriching a railway collection that now includes more than 20 miniature trains. With its distinctive red, blue and green livery, the FLIRT TSI is one of the most recognizable symbols of regional rail transport between the Canton of Ticino and the Lombardy Region.
The FLIRT TSI was created through a collaboration between Swissminiatur and GOS Global Optimisation Solutions SA in Gordola. The project involved several specialists: Swissminiatur’s 3D Polydesigners were responsible for the digital design and modelling, GOS SA prepared the materials using laser-cutting technology, while Swissminiatur’s precision mechanics and electricians carried out the assembly and technical development of the train.
This new train also marks an important technological milestone for the park: it is the first train to be developed entirely using the new digital technology, representing the beginning of Swissminiatur’s transition from analogue to digital systems.
